Please let us know who you are, where you work, what level you teach, and what you like to do when you are not teaching? Do you have a favorite vacation spot? Describe your proudest moment as an educator?
My name is Carrie Cybul. I work at Millburn School Dist. 24 in Wadsworth, Illinois. I am a Speech-Language Pathologist for primarily early childhood, preschool, and kindergarten students. This year, my district has added a EC Autism classroom for students on the spectrum that I have been working in. I love it! My proudest moment as an educator had to come this past year. We had a three year old boy enter the early childhood classroom in November. He was completely non-verbal and his mother was very upset he was not talking yet. So, I started him on a communication system called PECS (i.e., where pictures are exchanged to communicate non-verbally). By December, this student started talking in single words. I just worked with him yesterday for summer school and I heard him say a six word sentence! I am so proud of him and how far he has come! It is so rewarding to get these kids talking and seeing their personalities shine through. When I am not working, I love spending time with my family and friends, my boyfriend Ben, and my yorkie-poo Mack. I bought my first house three years ago and I enjoy improving it. I am putting in a patio in a few week and looking forward to it! Other than that, I love to golf, kayak, basically anything outside, and of course, shop : ) My favorite vacation spot is Sanibel Island, Florida. I've been going there since I have been a kid and my parents recently got a house near by. I'm heading down there at the end of July!
My name is Jonathan Peterson. I teach 9th grade World Cultures at Oshkosh West High School and am an assistant coach on the UW-Oshkosh CC and Track teams. I teach in a cotaught setting 1-2x per day and often have kids from all manners of spec ed. (EBD, CDB, LD, and autism).
I am married and have a nearly 2 yr old daughter Molly, a nearly 5 yr old Golden doodle and a 5 month old golden doodle. I enjoy running, spending time with my family, and playing video games and watching movies.
I am looking forward to this class, I really get into brain research and try to incorporate a lot of what I learn in my classroom.
My name is Nicole Russ and I am a 5/6 Spanish teacher at Swallow School in Hartland, WI. It is a small K-8 district in the Lake Country Area outside of Milwaukee. I am 50% which allows me to run after my 3 children (Brady-7, Reagan-5, Hayden-3). These guys along with my husband is what creates all the laughter and hobbies. We all enjoy the outdoors (fishing, camping, etc...) and baseball! I also enjoy traveling and recreational sports.
My families favorite vacation spot is a small lake (Wheeler) in North-East Wisconsin. We are lucky enough to spend 2 weeks in the summer up there!
My name is Maryann Witberler. I am a 9-12th grade special education (LD/EBD teacher). I have taught at WIlmot High School for 8 years. It has been a crazy summer. I have been finishing credits through Cardinal Stritch, got engaged, selling a condo, going on vacation and teaching summer school.
My favorite vactaion spot is anywhere I can do something new or learn something new.
Proudest moment: Seeing a former student come back to "give back" to others.
